Join us for beer and history at this month's History Pub, sponsored by the Holy Names Heritage Center, McMenamins and OHS. This April, Eileen McVicker will describe the everyday adventures and rugged vistas that filled her childhood on her family's sheep ranch during the Depression and War years living on Steens Mountain and the surrounding area in the High Desert of Oregon. McVicker's present-day neighbor, the author and longtime school teacher Barbara Scot, will detail the process and adventures the pair shared in compiling McVicker's memories into the 2008 book, Child of Steens Mountain.
