The Gizmonic Institute and The Bus Project present
Political Science Theater 3000
Hosted by cortandfatboy
Admission: $10.00
In celebration of the Democracy Week, The Bus Project and The Hollywood Theatre are kicking off Rebooting Democracy 2012 with a one-of-a-kind look at the interplay of politics and television: Political Science Theater 3000. A festival of ideas, innovation, and democracy, Rebooting Democracy is happening all over Portland April 16th - 22nd.
Harnessing the power of the internet as the ultimate record of human history and political science, the creative minds at the Hollywood and the Bus have put together Political Science Theater 3000: a highly curated program stretching from Ike’s first campaign ad to the latest in candidate gaffes, youtube remixes, and outrageous online advertisements.
Hosts Cort & Fatboy will be on-hand to emcee and crack wise, guiding a cavalcade of local politicos and comedic relievers on a tour of the last fifty years of (in)famous political media moments. Featuring LBJ’s Daisy and the KKK; Bush Sr.’s vomit; Carly Fiorina’s Demon Sheep; Rick Baker’s armies; Mike Gavel’s rock; and Herman Cain’s exploded bunny; Political Science Theater 3000’s trip to the Satellite of Love is scheduled to depart at 7:30 on April 16th. Admission is free with Rebooting Democracy Full-Week & VIP Passes; single-admission tickets are available through the Hollywood Theater box office, and at the Gizmonic Institute’s NW Portland branch.
A SXSW for politicos, a CPAC for hipsters, a TED talk for artsy types, Rebooting Democracy brings a fresh take to the old routine of a political conference--opening up its panel discussions, policy workshops and progressive presentations to Portlanders of all stripes, and blowing it out to include concerts, film screenings, comedy shows, and interactive multimedia extravaganzas.
