Epiphany Theatre Company opens its inaugural 2012 half season with the comedy-horror SPIDER BABY, THE MUSICAL, an original adaptation of the Jack Hill 1968 movie "Spider Baby"; adapted by Enrique Acosta, music and lyrics by Enrique Acosta except lyrics for “I Don’t Want to be Elizabeth” by Helen Acosta & lyrics for “The Kiss” by Lorein Patton.
SPIDER BABY is about the Merrye family - Ralph, Elizabeth, and Virginia - the last surviving descendants with a degenerative brain disorder, and the family chauffeur, who is also their doting caretaker. Distant relatives appear with their lawyer in tow, looking to take over the family home and send the children away. The presence of these unfamiliar people excites and agitates the Merrye children, which sets off a chain of troublesome events. Virginia's particular interest in playing her favorite game of "spider" does not help...
