The fun of Halloween joins the music of the great Hungarian pianist/composer Franz Liszt, in celebration of his 200th anniversary. Rosa Li performs Liszt's Totentanz (Dance of Death) and Piano Concerto No. 1 in Eb major.
Also on the program is HK Gruber's "Frankenstein!!" in a NW premiere performance, with Kirk Mouser - is it music theater, is it cabaret, is it opera? All of these and more! "Frankenstein!!" crosses genres in anarchic fashion in pursuit of the comic-strip heroes and film idols of H.C. Artmann's poetry. Childlike fantasy collides with nightmare as we meet Frankenstein, Miss Dracula, Superman, Batman and Robin, often in macabre yet humorous situations.
PCO also presents the world premiere of "The Monster" by Duncan Neilson. Original orchestral score, electronica and hand-drawn animation (by Liz Gill Neilson) combine in a retelling of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, told from the point of view of the Monster.
Come dressed for Halloween - prizes for best costumes!
