Kick Ass OR History: Escape from PDX!
Join orhistory.com's ribald resident historian Doug Kenck-Crispin for a look at Civil Defense in 1950's Portland, Oregon, and the nuclear holocaust that ensues.
Doug will be screening the 1950's film "A Day Called 'X'" which was filmed in The City of Roses. It's like that 80's movie, "The Day After," only in Portland, and Mom doesn't loose all of her hair and spit out her teeth... The film (27 minutes) will start promptly after a brief introduction, so don't be late!
The event is based orhistory's first of a two episode podcast in which they interview our own Kick Ass Mayor, Sam Adams, about Civil Defense and hipsters biking to Estacada to flee the nuclear apocalypse. (Part two of the series drops around 9/15).
