History Pub: Lives of Women Citizens

Free event and is open to all ages. Canned food donations will be accepted for the Oregon Food Bank.

An illustrated overview of women and citizenship in Oregon, giving context for a conversation among pioneering women public servants and young women who ahve interviewed them over the summer. The audience will also be invited to ask questions.

The panel will include:

Gretchen Kafoury, former Legislator (lobbied for passge of ERA in 1973)
Norma Paulus, former Secretary of State (first woman elected to statewide office)
Avel Louise Gordly, former Legislator (first African American woman elected to state senate)
Kathryn Harrison, former Chairwoman of the Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde
Erika Nebel, graduate of NEW Leadership Oregon program

Presented Presented by the Holy Names Heritage Center, McMenamins and OHS; in collaboration with Century of Action: Oregon Women Vote, 1912-2012, and with PSU's Center for Women, Politics & Policy, and funded in part through Oregon Humanities.
