The 48 Hour Film Project Premiere Screenings
Admission: $8.00
Four screenings:
August 10th: 7:00pm and 9:30pm
August 11th: 7:00pm and 9:30pm.
Each screening features 14 different films by area filmmakers.
From August 5th to August 7th, 56 teams from the Greater Portland area have just 48 hours to write, shoot and edit their short films. On Friday, August 5th, all teams draw their genres from a hat and then must use the same character, prop and line of dialogue in their films. You will be amazed at the results of this pressure cooker of creativity
Don't forget that YOU, the audience, will determine the coveted Audience Favorite Awards (1 for each screening group). There will be also a short Q and A with the filmmakers afterwards! The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams make a movie — write, shoot, edit and score it — in just 48 hours.
The 2011 48 Hour Film Project will culminate with the “Best of Portland 2011” at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 23rd.
In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 80 cities on five continents. This year, we're even bigger, with filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.
The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking." /p>
